Rustic Nature Mug with Wild Fern Impressions, Handcrafted Pottery Made in USA
I make these nature mugs in limited numbers during the fall months, this is the first of a small batch I will be listing in the next few weeks.
This mug was hand thrown and trimmed on my pottery wheel using a brown stoneware clay. While the clay was still soft I pressed a delicate wild fern from my garden into the clay. I then painted the exterior of the mug with white slip (liquid clay). Once the slip was dry, I peeled off the leaves leaving the natural brown clay underneath. It was then bisque fired and glazed with a clear coat on the outside and a deep ocean blue glaze on the inside and fired again in my electric kiln.
*Because of the botanical removal some slightly rough texture may be felt where the leaves were impressed.
Approximate size: 3.5" across the top and 3.75" high, holds about 14 ounces of liquid.
Dishwasher, Microwave, Food Safe.
