Two Rustic Ceramic Serving Bowls in Milky Whie Glaze Made in USA
These two bowls were hand thrown and trimmed on my potter's wheel using a rich specked stoneware clay. They were then bisque fired and glazed with transparent white glaze that allows the dark speckles of the natural stoneware to come through. They were then fired to cone 6 in my electric kiln.
For months I searched the internet to find a clay that has this depth of speckling in it. This particular clay comes from Canada, and while it is more costly than the local clays I use, I believe it's worth it to be able to make special pieces like this.
Approximate sizes: 6" wide across the top and 3" high, each one varies slightly in size and shape.
